Design & Built Quality
This device is made of plastic body as it is not that costly but it still does look a little premium then it’s price. This looks like a well-built device and it’s 8.1 millimetre thin and the weight of the device is 480 grams. Now, this whole device has got a sort of metal frame which looks good. In my opinion this device has a really good design according to its price.
On the top of the device, we get to see two speakers which are front facing. On the bottom of the device we get to see connectors for the dock. There is USB Type-C Port, microphone, and a Micro-SD card slot at the right side of the device. Power and volume buttons are placed on left side of the device.
Display
The display on this device is good enough considering the price. The size of this display is 10.3-inch and it is a Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200p and I do think that this is a bit unusual size for a tablet.
The display is not bright enough to use in direct sunlight. The color reproduction is good enough to watch videos and wide-angles are great. The surprising thing is that it’s a laminated screen which means there is no air gap between the pixels and the panel.
Netflix app don’t support the HD resolution on this screen, so you can only watch movies in standard definition. This makes me feel a little disappointing but considering the price point, it’s still decent enough to watch videos.
Performance
The device runs on a platform from MediaTek – Helio P22T, which is also known as MT8768T. The chipset includes eight Cortex-A53 cores, four of which work with a clock frequency of up to 2.3 GHz, and four cores with a maximum clock frequency of up to 1.8 GHz. The Rogue GE8320 graphics accelerator is from PowerVR.
There are 4 GB of RAM in all versions and this amount is generally enough for comfortable work with a tablet of this level. Especially if you recall that most competitors have only 2 or 3 GB, which is really not enough today.
Software: Android 10 & Kids Mode
Lenovo ships the Tab M10 HD 2nd Gen running Android 10 which is great. In the past, most tablets from Lenovo have gotten one big update. So, while I can’t promise anything, I’m guessing that it’ll get Android 11 next year.
I always like that Lenovo is shipping their tablets with almost pure Android. The interface is much less customized than Samsung’s, Huawei’s, or Amazon’s, which often can seem a bit overloaded. Google’s apps are preinstalled, as well as an FM Radio and a Video+ app but that’s it.
Among the preinstalled Google services are YouTube Kids and Google Kids Space. The latter one is a kids mode. You can set up different users on this tablet including ones for your kids. Since I don’t have any, it’s always hard to judge for me how good these kids’ modes are. But Google Kids Space seems much better to me than Samsung Kids, for instance.
The Google Assistant is preinstalled too and works just as it does on your phone. If you love the Assistant, it makes sense to get the Smart Tab M10 HD with the Smart Dock because it allows you to use this tablet as a smart display.
Conclusion
Well, according to me this is a nice device to buy. The display is good for watching YouTube videos but we can’t watch Netflix in HD which is a little disappointing but that’s OK. You can also play some heavy games but you need to lower the graphics settings. The battery life on this device is not too great. And the the speakers are good enough but what’s missing is a little bass which is kind of OK.
